Attorney:                      JHJ

Date:         February 25, 2012

Title:          OK

Fiscal Note:      No

Code:         §17C-15-23 (Amend)

Purpose: The bill would permit certain auxiliary lighting on motorcycles. The bill would add language to the section that provides requirements and limitations for lighting on motorcycles. The new language that describes the auxiliary lighting is permissible, making it voluntary for motorcycle operators to use the auxiliary lighting. The new language is required because additional lighting to what is already permissible may not be used. Should the auxiliary lighting be used by the motorcycle operator, it must be non-blinking, non-flashing, non-oscillating, and must be directed toward the drive train of the motorcycle, so as to not distract other motorists.

Committee Action: The Committee on Roads and Transportation reported the bill without amendment. The second reference to Judiciary was dispensed with.
